Course Overview

Digital literacy refers to the ability to discover, evaluate, and effectively articulate information via typing and other media across multiple channels.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, followed by Google Docs and Google Slides, are some of the most common and effective applications for everyone around the globe, whether they are students or white-collar workers. It enables students and professionals to create documents and visual effects with creative expression in a digital format. Children will be able to convey messages in a structured and informative manner as they learn to use Microsoft and Google Applications.

Tools: Google Docs, Google Slides, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. Software should already be download in each devices.


 

Course Outline

In this course, students will begin their digital literacy journey by choosing to learn either one out of the 4 fundamentals of digital literacy: Google Docs, Google Slides, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint. During our sessions, students will participate in instructor-led lessons, interactive discussions, and independent project work, and they will effectively learn the tips and techniques for using these applications.

  • Week 1:
    Learn the introduction of Google Docs and get an overview of the application
  • Week 2:
    Identify and learn the Toolbar and Menu Items available on the application
  • Week 3 & 4:
    Learn how to create and edit a document in short projects
  • Week 5:
    Learn to format texts including using various fonts.
  • Week 6:
    Learn to work with visuals such as images on Google Docs.
  • Week 7:
    Learn how to setup a page, outline a document and generate Table of Content. 
  • Week 8:
  • Learn how to create different styles of paragraphs.
  • Week 9:
    Learn to apply Headers and Footers; and also Page Numbers.
  • Week 10:
    Learn to create Tables and Lists.
  • Week 11:
    Learn to check word count, spelling and grammar.
  • Week 12:
  • Learn how to share and collaborate with Google Drive.

  • Learn how to insert and edit shapes into various sizes.

    Learn to create animations and transitions for each individual slide
  • Week 10:
    Learn how to work with tables and format them.
  • Week 11:
    Learn how to insert static & dynamic charts.
  • Week 12:
  • Learn how to present, print and publish your slides to the web.
